The Rainbow Tapestry Project

The Rainbow Tapestry Project opened its doors in March 2018. It aims to connect LGTBTIQ communities of the Inner West of Sydney through weekly events that promote social inclusion, diversity, and support.
We run indoors and outdoors events showcasing the many wonderful places of the Inner West. Almost all the events are free or low-cost, opened to all age groups and child-friendly.
"The name of the project made me think of people like a tapestry. Everyone is a piece of different coloured cloth that is created to be together. Only by weaving different coloured threads it is possible to have a special type of strong cloth."

Start a conversation – Wear It Purple Day 28 August 2026
As we move toward Wear It Purple Day, we’re taking time to recognise the importance of visibility, safety, and support for LGBTQ+ young people. Each week we’re sharing a conversation starter that invites reflection on the moments, people, and experiences that help us feel affirmed and connected. Your stories remind us of the inclusive community we’re committed to building together.
