MCC Welfare Services work with the LGBTQIA communities within Sydney. We believe in an inclusive safe environment and strength through shared experiences together.
About the role:
The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for engaging LGBTQIA people in the Inner West area and develop initiatives that foster social interaction, build capacity and increase social capital.
The Rainbow Tapestry Project is a new development area for MCC Welfare services and we require a self-starter who can implement basic social programs. The role will encompass a range of community development activities from understanding the needs and capacity of our communities, resource planning, implementation, external stakeholder engagement, ongoing monitoring and assessment.
Whilst most of the work will be undertaken within regular business hours, some outside of normal business hours maybe required.
The role will be the equivalent to a SCHCADS Level 3.
Essential
- Demonstrated strong links/ connection to the LGBTQIA community in the Inner West
- Demonstrated understanding of community development principals
- Experience working with groups
- Ability to travel within Inner West to meet with stakeholders and conduct events
- Ability to undertake record keeping
- Police check clearance
Desirable
- Tertiary education in the community services sector
- Drivers licence
